Ode To Penn - SMOKIN'

My photography explores the intersection of history, personal experience, and environmental awareness. In my latest series, I pay homage to Irving Penn’s ‘Cigarettes,’ reflecting on the lasting impact of tobacco use. Through images of discarded cigarette butts, vapes, and joints, I highlight the environmental and health crisis these items cause. Despite their toxicity, I hope to capture the paradoxical beauty in these overlooked objects—vibrant, yet disturbing, simple, yet devastating.

Using a 19th-century platinum/palladium technique infused with colour, I aim to evoke emotion and spark conversation about the overlooked consequences of our daily actions and their lasting impact on our planet.
